jon bareford

GES Chairman and CEO

Jon's IT experience covers nearly four decades and includes every aspect of building and marketing mission critical systems for major corporate enterprises.

Educated in England and Australia he graduated from Imperial College in Physics and rather than pursuing a scientific career he identified the use of computers in industry as being something more suited to his interests and talents.

Working first for a major IT manufacturer, then a user, and finally one of the larger consulting firms gained him a substantial breadth of experience.

Having achieved the status of Director the future prospects for someone who essentially liked to be closely involved in the development process did not appeal. So he pursued an independent career in the 1980's, which involved developing systems for larger UK corporations.

Today, his passionate desire is to repeat earlier successes in vertical markets by providing definitive systems for the Radio and Media sectors. In this respect he is fortunate in being able to work with some of the best people that he has encountered during his career.

trevor toms

GES Technical Director

Trevor was a technical developer for Hoskyns Group (now Cap Gemini Ernst and Young) for 10 years during the 1970's, supporting and developing multi-user operating systems for both their ICL mainframes and the pioneering microprocessor based hotel system alongside Jon Bareford.

He moved into the creation of an AI authoring system for home computer game designers, and a question/answer based system for midwives with statistical analyses for hospital administrators.

After a 5-year period developing a JIT scheduling system for manufacturing industry, he became involved with the Radio Industry in 1992, creating a highly acclaimed planning system for agencies. This led to the formation of GES, and the continued development of new products to enhance the ability of Radio to sell and promote itself more effectively.

Trevor now heads up product and project development as Technical Director.

max davies

Max has 15 years' experience in the media industry. Most recently, he was the director of JICRIT limited, the industry body responsible for commissioning J-ET (the radio industry's electronic trading and post campaign accountability system). J-ET is a media first and remains a unique example of industry co-operation.

Prior to this, Max spent 3 ½ years as the UK systems manager for the media agency, MediaVest. He also spent the first 8 years of his career as a client executive and systems development manager with media auditors, Barsby Rowe (now part of Billetts).

Max joined GES in May 2004 with a view to expanding our business through the development of products for UK media agencies and for the overseas market.

andrea marsh

Andrea joined Radio back in 1990 with a view to becoming the future producer of Top of the Pops, and ended up in the traffic department of Galaxy 97.2 in Bristol. The system used at the time was so dreadful that her initial interest in designing a new software system first emerged.

With over 10 years of traffic experience accumulated at various stations and sales houses including Jazz FM, Talk Radio, Chiltern Radio and Clear Channel Radio Sales, she was qualified to have a say in the design of a radically new system and joined the GES Traffic Development team in late 2002.

2003 saw her project managing the rollout of the GES traffic system across more than 60 stations at 2 of the UK’s largest radio groups.

Andrea now oversees all current projects within GES in conjunction with sales and support of the new Traffic system.

paul patrick

After graduating from the University of Leeds in Computing and having a keen interest in the media sector, GES represented a perfect opportunity for Paul to start a career in the area of his interests.

Paul was the first recruit to GES after it was founded by Jon and Trevor, and has been involved in all areas of the business from providing customer facing user support and software implementation to development and sales/marketing.

As the longest serving employee at GES his vast wealth of knowledge in our systems is invaluable in continuing our close client relationships.

piers widdowson

Piers graduated from Kingston polytechnic where he studied Information Systems Design.

Through chance encounter he found himself in his final year building an Executive Information System for the board of Royal Dutch Shell in Amsterdam. There followed a number of years developing similar systems for large corporations.

This was followed by a move into data warehousing and business intelligence with a number of assignments at IBM customers such as State of Mississippi, World Bank and HCFA the healthcare finance authority for US medicare and medicaid patients.

A stint in the Telecommunications industry was followed by the recent move to GES where Piers is adding much of the ‘intelligence’ to the ‘radio intelligence’ branding through his development of analytical tools based on Rajar, sales and traffic data.
